Whisky bacon kicks this recipe up a notch from your regular grilled cheese. Oozing with gruyere and piled high with bacon this grilled cheese stands above the rest!
|8||slices Maple Leaf Canadian CraftTM Canadian Whisky and Apple Bacon|
|1/2||small red apple, sliced|
|1/2||small green apple, sliced|
|2 cups||(500mL) gruyere cheese, grated|
|4||slices texas style toast|
|2 tbsp||(30mL) butter|
Heat a large skillet over medium high heat.
Cook bacon for 4 to 5 minutes or until browned and just crisp.
Remove to a paper towel lined plate and set aside and keep warm.
Assemble grilled cheese by layering half the cheese on bottom bread followed by apple slices, bacon and remaining cheese. In the same pan melt butter over medium high heat.
Fry sandwich 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cheese has melted.
Serve with a small green salad
