|1/4 cup||(60 mL) Butter|
|1/4 cup||(60 mL) Flour|
|1/2 tsp||(2 mL) Dry mustard powder|
|1 tsp||(5 mL) Horseradish|
|1||(12 oz/340 mL) Bottle lager|
|2 cups||(500 mL) Grated Old Cheddar cheese|
|1||(175 g) Package Maple Leaf® Natural Selections® Shaved Roasted Beef|
|1||French stick, diagonally cut into twelve ½” (1.25 cm) slices|
MELT butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in flour, mustard and horseradish. Return to low heat and gradually add lager. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Add cheese and continue to cook until the cheese has melted.
PLACE bread slices on a baking sheet and toast on one side until golden brown. Divide the roast beef slices between the pieces of toasted bread and return to the broiler to warm the meat slightly.
DIVIDE the toasted slices between 4-6 serving plates. Ladle a generous amount of the melted cheese mixture over top of each and serve.
