About this Recipe

Most people can agree on two things:
1) Garlic bread with cheese is awesome
2) The best part of a grilled cheese is the cheese that escapes the sides, runs into the pan, and cooks into a delicious crispy treat.
I have combined both of these great truths to make one awesome garlic bread recipe!

4 slices Villaggio bread
1/2 cup salted butter, softened
2 tbsp chopped parsley
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp dehydrated onion flakes
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup blend of shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese
non-stick cooking spray

Spray a medium frying pan with non-stick cooking spray.
In a small bowl using a handheld mixer on slow speed, mix together butter, parsley, garlic, olive oil, onion flakes, garlic powder, and salt.
Heavily butter one side of each slice of bread with 2 tbsp. of the butter mixture.
Place buttered side down into a large non-stick frying pan, and heat over medium heat until the bread is crispy (about 5-7 minutes, depending on how crispy you like it).
Remove garlic bread, and set aside.
Divide the cheese into four equal piles in the frying pan. The cheese will begin to melt. Drop the temperature to medium-low. Top each pile of cheese with the un-buttered side of bread facing down.
Fry for 5 minutes.
Remove from heat.
Let stand for about 8-10 minutes before removing from the pan (this gives the cheese a chance to re-harden into a crispy delicious treat!).
Serve upside down- enjoy the crispy cheese!

You can play around with the type of cheese you use for this recipe. I am sure a sharp Gouda would also work great!
