The tropical flavours of the salsa are perfect with the salty sweet glazed ham steaks. Serve with rice and beans and you will feel like you are in the Caribbean.
|2||(175 g) Package Schneiders Olde Fashioned® Smoked Ham Steaks|
|4 tbsp||(60 mL) Sweet Thai chili sauce, divided|
|1 cup||(250 mL) Finely diced pineapple|
|1/2||Red pepper, finely diced|
|1/2||Kiwi fruit, finely diced|
|1||Jalapeno, seeded and diced|
|Salt and pepper|
PREHEAT broiler to high. Brush 2 tbsp (30 mL) of the Thai chili sauce on both sides of each of the ham steaks. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and broil for 3-5 minutes per side or until the edges begin to caramelize.
MIX the remaining Thai chili sauce with pineapple, pepper, kiwi fruit and jalapeno pepper. Season with salt and pepper.
SERVE ham steaks with beans and rice, topped with salsa.
