This grilled cheese sandwich is a meal in itself, hearty and filling.
|4||slices Dempsters Whole Multi Grain bread|
|4 1/2 tbsp||butter|
|8||slices cheddar cheese|
|1/4 cup||elbow macaroni|
|1/2 lb||lean ground beef|
|1 tbsp||taco seasoning|
|2 tbsp||chopped sweet onion|
Cook elbow macaroni in boiling salted water till done. Drain, set aside.
Preheat non-stick skillet on medium setting.
To skillet add 1/2 tbsp. butter & melt. Add the sweet onion & cook till soft. Add lean ground beef to the onion mix & cook for 6 - 8 minutes. Add taco seasoning, ketchup, water & cook a futher 8 - 10 minutes till water reduces & makes a thick sauce. Remove from stove & add the cooked elbow macaroni and mix well. Set aside.
Preheat another non-stick skillet on medium setting.
Melt 1 tbsp. butter in skillet and add 1 slice of bread. Place 2 slices of cheese on bread in skillet, top with 1/2 the taco beef mixture. Top with another 2 slices of cheese & other slice of bread. Grill till done on one side, flip over & add another 1 tbsp. butter & grill till golden brown.
Makes 2 sandwiches.
