I love turkey done of the BBQ, but don't worry - this recipe works really well in the oven also. I always buy a turkey or two when they are on sale after the big turkey holidays and keep them in the freezer for when a crowd is coming over in the summer.
|1||Maple Leaf Turkey|
|1 Pkg||Frozen Limeade drink mix|
|3 tbsp||Dry Basil|
Using a sharp knife or poultry sheers remove the back bone (or spine) of the turkey.
Lay the turkey skin side up on your cutting board and remove the legs.
(This step is not 100% needed, but the legs cook much faster than the breast so I like to be able to move them to the top rack of the BBQ, or take them out of the oven, when they are done)
Place all the ingredients in a very large zip lock back and store in the fridge or a cooler with ice for at least 24 hours (I usually aim for about 48 hours if possible)
Cook the Turkey either in the oven or over very low heat on the BBQ. Because of the sugar in the limeade you will get some dark parts, but they are delicious!
