1 lb (450 g) ground pork
1/2 cup (125 mL) Chopped onion
1/4 cup (60 mL) Grated carrot
1 Jalapeno pepper, chopped
1/4 cup (60 mL) Pine nuts
1/4 cup (60 mL) Craisins
2 tbsp (30 mL) Chopped coriander
2 tbsp (30 mL) Chopped parsley
2 tbsp (30 mL) Chopped thyme
3 Cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp (15 mL) Grated fresh ginger
1 tsp (5 mL) Salt
1 1/4 tsp (6 mL) Ground cumin, divided
1 tsp (5 mL) Ground coriander
1 Egg
1/2 cup (125 mL) Breadcrumbs
1 Package Dempster’s® Original Hamburger Buns
4 leaves Romaine lettuce
1 Cucumber, sliced
1 Tomato, sliced
1 cup (250 mL) Plain yogurt, stirred
1 tbsp (15 mL) Chopped fresh mint

PREHEAT BBQ to high.

PLACE pork in a large mixing bowl. Add onion, carrot, pine nuts, and all of the spices up to and including the breadcrumbs. Mix well. Using your hands, form patties of about ¼ lb (113 g).

PLACE patties on the preheated grill and grill for 1-2 minutes per side then reduce heat to low and continue to grill for 8-10 minutes per side or until the burgers are nicely char grilled and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

MEANWHILE, toast the hamburger buns. Place lettuce, cucumber and tomato slice on the bottom of the bun. Top with cooked pork burger.

MIX together yogurt, mint and ¼ tsp (1 mL) of ground cumin. Season with salt and serve over the pork burgers.
