The is a special dessert-like bagel treat.The cheese mixture and caramel are likely enough for more than 8 bagels, so save the extra for another day.


2 cup Sugar
3/4 cup Butter
1 cup 35% Cream
1 tbsp Coarse Sea Salt
8 Maple French Toast bagels
250 g Cream Cheese
1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
1 tbsp Thyme
1 cup Strawberries, sliced


To make the caramel: melt the sugar on medium in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Stir as the sugar as it melts, and add butter. Stir until the liquid is dark and well-mixed. Remove from heat. Gradually add the cream, while stirring. Add the sea salt, stir, and cool. Extra caramel can be stored in a container for up to a month.

Spread: Slice the bagels in two horizontally. Combine the cream cheese, icing sugar, vanilla, and thyme. Spread most of the mixture between the top and bottom halves of the bagels. Toast the bagels on a grill or in the toaster oven. But the bagels on plates and use the remaining cheese mixture to affix the strawberry slices to the tops of the bagels. Drip lines of caramel over the Bagels.
