This gourmet grilled cheese is definitely worth the extra step to fry the chicken and bell pepper mixture. Paired nicely with a three cheese ranch for dipping, this sandwich will become a favorite.
|2||Slices of Dempster's Whole Grain Garden Vegetable bread|
|2||Deli cut slices of Havarti Cheese|
|1||Red Bell Pepper|
|70 g||Precooked Chicken Strips|
|2 tbsp||Garlic Spread|
|1 tbsp||Italian Seasoning|
|1 tsp||Cajun Pepper|
|4 tbsp||Vegetable Oil|
Mix vegetable oil, Italian seasoning, Cajun pepper, salt and pepper (to your taste) in a mixing bowl, then stir sliced Red bell peppers into mixture; coating them evenly. Leave the Peppers aside, and pour oil mix into a skillet and preheat the oil on medium.
Stir fry the Red Bell Peppers for about 10 minutes, then add precooked chicken strips. Continue to stir fry for 5 minutes.
While the chicken and peppers are simmering, butter the pieces of Dempster's Vegetable Garden bread with the garlic spread on one side of each piece. Place first piece of bread with the spread DOWN on a separate preheated griddle or frying pan. Place one piece of Havarti cheese on the bread.
Distribute the Chicken and Peppers onto the cheese, leaving the oil in the pan. Place last piece of cheese over the chicken. Finally cover the sandwich with remaining piece of bread with the garlic spread facing UP.
Cook on medium until bread is golden brown and lower piece of cheese is melted. Flip the sandwich and repeat.
Cut in half and Enjoy!
