Ham never tasted so good with this delicious simple glaze.
|1||Maple Leaf® Spiral Ham|
|1 cup||(250 mL) apple juice|
|4||small apples, cored and quartered|
|3/4 cup||(175 mL) whiskey|
|1/2 cup||(125 mL) maple syrup|
|1/4 cup||(60 mL) brown sugar|
|1/4 cup||(60 mL) Dijon mustard|
PREHEAT oven to 325 degrees.
PLACE ham face down in a roasting pan outfitted with a roasting rack.
POUR apple juice and whiskey over top.
COVER with tin foil and bake for 30 to 35 minutes per every kg.
AT LAST half hour of cooking remove liquid from roasting pan into a saucepan.
ADD maple syrup, brown sugar and Dijon.
BRING to a boil and whisk well.
ALLOW to thicken and reduce slightly.
PLACE ham along with apples slices back in the oven and baste with glaze every 10 minutes uncovered for the last half hour.
Broil for the last 3 to 4 minutes to get a caramelized top.
