About this Recipe

Hummus with a little bit of spice and a little more lemon. Best enjoyed with crunchy rice crackers.


19 oz can chickpeas
2 clove garlic, peeled and smashed
1.5 tbsp tahini
1/3 cup good olive oil (reserve a drizzle for garnish)
1/8 cup cold water
3 tbsp lemon juice
1.5 tsp cumin
1 tsp chili powder
pinch of salt to taste
dashes of hot sauce


Mix all the listed ingredients in a blender for best consistency.


Garnish with a pinch of paprika.

Adjust the level of garlic, lemon juice and spice to find the right balance for you.

For fans of spice, try using a variety of ingredients such as different brands of hot sauce, Sriracha hot sauce, cayenne pepper, chili flakes, chili powder, or various hot peppers (jalapenos, bonnet peppers, chili peppers, etc.).
