Rich and decadent tomato pie is traditional of the deep south. Here were turned it into an ooey gooey Panini that’s a cinch to prepare.
1/4 cup | (60 mL) Mayonnaise |
3/4 cup | (175 mL) Grated Cheddar cheese |
1/4 cup | (60 mL) Grated Asiago cheese |
1/4 cup | (60 mL) Chopped fresh basil |
8 | Slices Villaggio® Italian Style Panini Bread |
2-3 | Tomatoes, sliced |
Salt and pepper | |
1/4 cup | (60 mL) Softened butter |
PREHEAT panini grill to 375˚F (190˚C).
MIX together mayonnaise, cheese and basil.
SPREAD mixture evenly over 4 slices of bread. Top with tomato slices, season with salt and pepper and top with remaining bread. Spread outside of each sandwich with softened butter.
GRILL sandwiches until golden, 5-6 minutes.
