Trick your taste buds into enjoying brussels sprouts with the sweet smokey taste of ham. Top with roasted pecans to serve!
|2 lbs||(900 g) Brussels sprouts|
|2 tbsp||(30 mL) Butter|
|3 tbsp||(45 mL) Olive oil|
|1||(175 g) Package Schneiders Olde Fashioned® Smoked Ham Steak, coarsely chopped|
|1||Clove garlic, minced|
|.66 cup||(150 mL) Reduced sodium chicken broth|
|Salt and pepper|
|.5 cup||(125 mL) Pecans, toasted and chopped|
TRIM root ends of the brussels sprouts and pull off any blemished leaves. Using a sharp knife or a food processor fitted with a course-shredding disk, thinly slice the brussels sprouts.
HEAT butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ham and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add garlic and cook for one minute more. Stir in brussels sprouts and chicken broth. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until tender crisp and still bright green in colour. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve sprinkled with toasted pecans.
