Trick your taste buds into enjoying brussels sprouts with the sweet smokey taste of ham. Top with roasted pecans to serve!


2 lbs (900 g) Brussels sprouts
2 tbsp (30 mL) Butter
3 tbsp (45 mL) Olive oil
1 (175 g) Package Schneiders Olde Fashioned® Smoked Ham Steak, coarsely chopped
1 Clove garlic, minced
.66 cup (150 mL) Reduced sodium chicken broth
Salt and pepper
.5 cup (125 mL) Pecans, toasted and chopped


TRIM root ends of the brussels sprouts and pull off any blemished leaves. Using a sharp knife or a food processor fitted with a course-shredding disk, thinly slice the brussels sprouts.

HEAT butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ham and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add garlic and cook for one minute more. Stir in brussels sprouts and chicken broth. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until tender crisp and still bright green in colour. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve sprinkled with toasted pecans.
