Deli ham sandwiches can get boring... why not change it up using Puff Pastry to make a delicious lunch snack that will excite your kids to learn in school! Paired with a yogurt and piece of fruit, this is a yummy lunch that your child will want you to make again. Crispy and delicious served cold it's a great sandwich alternative.
|1/2 Pkg||puff pastry (from frozen foods dept)|
|1 Pkg||Scheiders Country Naturals baked ham|
|1 Pkg||sliced cheese (Provolone or Havarti--I used Provolone)|
|1 tsp||seasoned salt|
|1/4 cup||heavy cream|
|1/4 cup||sesame seeds|
Roll out half a package of puff pastry (for 4 servings) to create a large rectangle (to be folded over into a square shape) on greased parchment paper
or a dough mat.
Using a brush, coat the entire pastry with cream
Spread a layer of Schneiders Country Naturals ham over half the rectangle
Cover ham layer with a layer of cheese,
Sprinkle rosemary & seasoned salt sparingly over the meat/ cheese layer
Fold over/ cover over the meat & cheese layer with the other half of the pastry
Slice into 3/4 inch thick slices
twist each slice and place on baking sheet (covered with greased parchment paper or a non stick mat)
Brush each twisted piece with cream, sprinkle over the sesame seeds, be sure there is space between pieces to rise and cheese to escape in places
Bake at 350degrees for approx 10 - 15 minutes, until pieces are firm and golden brown,
remove to cooling rack.
Cut each strip in half to serve
Such a yummy treat in a lunchbox--this is a great alternative to the boring ham and cheese sandwich and also makes a delightful appetizer.
