|1||Package (375g) Schneiders® Country Naturals® Fresh Breakfast Sausage, casings removed|
|1||Small onion, diced|
|3 cups||(750 mL) Grated Cheddar cheese, divided|
|2 cups||(500 mL) Milk|
|1 tsp||(5 mL) Dijon mustard|
|Dash of Worcestershire sauce|
|6||Large eggs, lightly beaten|
|Salt and pepper|
|Chopped fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, oregano), optional|
PREHEAT oven to 350°F (180°C).
GREASE a 9x13” (3.5L) baking dish with butter. Line the baking dish with bread slices, overlapping slightly.
HEAT a large skillet over medium-high. Add sausage and cook, breaking apart with the back of a wooden spoon until brown, about 6-7 minutes. Transfer sausage to the baking dish and arrange over bread. Sprinkle half the cheese over the sausage.
WHISK together milk, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and eggs. Season with salt and pepper and pour over cheese and sausage. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and cover with aluminum foil. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.
BAKE covered for 30 minutes or until the eggs are set. Broil uncovered for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Sprinkle with fresh herbs if desired.
