Create your own homemade ragout by combining Olivieri® NutriWise® Tomato and Basil Sauce with white kidney beans, red bell peppers and dried oregano. Toss with Olivieri® Three Cheese Tortellini and sprinkle with Romano cheese to serve!
|15 ml||Olive oil|
|1||Small onion, diced|
|2||Cloves of garlic, minced|
|300 ml||Package OLIVIERI® NutriWise® Tomato & Basil Sauce|
|400 ml||Low sodum chicken broth|
|540 ml||Can white kidney beans, drained|
|2 ml||Dried oregano|
|1||Medium red pepper, thinly sliced|
|125 g||Extra lean ground beef|
|3||Spicy Italian sausages (casing removed)|
|350 g||Package OLIVIERI® Three Cheese Tortellini|
|30 ml||Chopped basil|
|75 ml||Romano cheese|
HEAT ½ tbsp (7 mL) oil in a large heavy pot over medium-low heat. Add diced onion and garlic. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until onions are softened.
ADD Tomato & Basil sauce, broth, beans, oregano and red pepper. Meanwhile, heat remaining oil in a separate pan on medium-high. Add ground beef and sausage. Cook for 5-7 minutes, while breaking the meat into small pieces with a wooden spoon.
REMOVE meat from pan using a slotted spoon and add to sauce. Bring the sauce to a boil and turn heat down to low. Simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
COOK pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water for 7 minutes. Drain and combine with meat and sauce mixture. SERVE sprinkled with basil and Romano cheese.
