About this Recipe

A traditional Persian or Iranian recipe with a twist. Saucisse Bandari is a Middle Eastern street food, that would typically be served for breakfast, but is tasty for any meal when you want something fast and hearty. Quick to make, it's an affordable and filling meal. Try serving it the traditional way, with pita bread or lavash flat bread, scooping small portions by hand to pop in your mouth. Or if you can't find pita, try a toasted white or whole wheat tortilla wrap.

1 onion
1 eggplant, small size
1 green pepper
1 tomato, medium
1 Pkg Hot Dogs, 450g
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1 tbsp tumeric
1/2 tbsp ground cumin
1/2 tbsp paprika
4 tbsp olive oil
salt, pepper, ground chipotle or cayenne - to taste

Dice the onion, eggplant, pepper, tomato and hot dogs into 1 cm pieces. In a large frying pan, fry the onion over medium heat with the olive oil and the tumeric, cumin and paprika, stirring frequently until the onion softens. Add the eggplant, pepper and hot dogs, and continue to fry around 5 minutes, until the vegetables soften and the hot dogs slightly brown. Add the tomato and tomato sauce, and simmer with stirring just until the tomato softens. Season with salt, pepper, and cayenne or chipotle as desired. Serves 4-6 people.
