Quick and simple – salty, smoky ham and creamy, nutty, melted Swiss cheese.
|2 tbsp||(30 mL) Butter|
|1||(227g/8 oz) Package sliced mushrooms|
|1/2 tsp||(2 mL) Dried thyme or 1 tsp (5 mL) Chopped fresh thyme|
|1/2 cup||(125 mL) Chopped red cabbage (optional)|
|2||Maple Leaf® Ham Steak|
|1 cup||(250 mL) Grated Swiss cheese|
PREHEAT broiler to high. Adjust the upper rack to 3-4” (8-10 cm) from the heat source. Broil the steaks for 3-4 minutes per side or until heated through.
HEAT butter in a large skillet over medium-high. Add mushrooms and thyme. Sauté for 4-5 minutes. Stir in red cabbage if using.
DIVIDE the mushroom mixture over the ham steaks and top with grated cheese. Place under the broiler for 3 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly.
Serve with sweet potatoes.
