Try this new twist on a classic favourite; instead of a Philly cheese steak, make it with your leftover turkey!
|2||slices of Dempster's bread|
|1/2 cup||thinly sliced leftover turkey breast|
|1/4 cup||sliced and washed white mushrooms|
|1/4 cup||sliced red onions|
|1/4 cup||sliced green bell pepper|
|1 tbsp||olive oil|
|2 oz||provolone cheese, sliced into small pieces|
|1 tbsp||light mayonnaise|
In a small frying pan, heat oil over medium high heat. Sautee onions, peppers, and mushrooms until veggies are soft (about 7 minutes).
Meanwhile on a microwave safe plate, place one slice of bread. Top bread with turkey, distributing evenly. Microwave for 30 seconds. Top with warm veggies, and provolone cheese. Microwave for another 30 seconds. Top with mayonnaise, followed by second slice of bread, and serve warm.
You can use a spicy mayonnaise or cheddar for interesting variations of this recipe.
