About this Recipe

Fast, easy to make and totally delicious. Pan roasting bread is a family tradition that I recall from my childhood.

4 slices - Villaggio Italian Style Thick Slice White Bread
5 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp minced garlic, fresh or dried
1/4 tsp ground cumin powder (you may increase or decrease the amount to taste)
1/4 tsp (optional) salt
1/4 tsp (optional) ground white pepper

1. warm pan on stove top to maximum suggested temperature (per cookware manufacturer - ie. my max is medium). Add the oil and then the butter once hot.
2. place the pieces of bread on the oiled surface for approx. 1 minute or until the bread becomes a bit toasty (golden brown in places). Turn over and repeat. Make sure the oil on the pan is redistributed when you turn over the bread.
3. sprinkle half the minced garlic and cumin powder over the top, turn, browning for 15 - 30 seconds. Sprinkle the remaining spices on the top side and turn to brown the other side. Take care not to burn the garlic.
4. Remove from the pan, serving either whole slices or cut the bread into halves, 1/3 or 1/4's as desired.

Easy and fast to make, you can control the amount of oil and still have a rich, fragrant and delicious treat. Modify the spicing to complement various recipes.
