Nothing says comfort food better than an Old Fashioned Lasagna recipe!
|1 tbsp||(15 mL) Olive oil|
|1 lb||(500 g) Extra lean ground beef|
|2 cups||(500 mL) Onion, carrot, celery, finely diced|
|2 cups||(500 mL) Diced plum tomatoes|
|1||(600 mL) Tub OLIVIERI® Tomato & Herb Sauce|
|Salt and pepper to taste|
|1||(360 g) Package OLIVIERI® Lasagna Sheets|
|2 cups||(500 mL) Ricotta cheese|
|2 cups||(500 mL) Shredded mozzarella cheese|
PREHEAT oven to 375°F (180°C).
HEAT oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook ground beef for 3-4 minutes, or until browned. Add vegetables and cook for additional 3-4 minutes.
COMBINE tomatoes and sauce in skillet with meat mixture. Simmer for 5 minutes and season to taste.
ADD a generous amount of sauce mixture to the bottom of a lightly greased 9x13-inch (3.5 L) pan.
LAYER lasagna sheets (cut if necessary), sauce and ricotta cheese. Repeat layering sequence; top final layer with sauce and cheese.
COVER with foil and bake for 30 to 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
