The garlic and olives have a strong flavor so please take that into account and modify the recipe accordingly if you aren’t a big fan.
2 | Villaggio Italian Style Crustini buns |
.5 lb | Hamburger meat |
.5 | Onion |
3 | Large mushrooms |
1 cup | Shredded mozzarella |
2 tbsp | Parmesan cheese |
1 | Garlic clove |
.5 cup | Tomato sauce or diced tomatoes |
1 tsp | Basil |
1 | Oregano (pinch of) |
Salt | |
Pepper | |
2 tbsp | Butter |
10 | Black olive slices |
Mix half a pound of hamburger meat and add salt and pepper as desired. Shape into two burgers and set aside. Press one clove of garlic and add it to 1 tbsp of butter. Mix and spread on the underside of the top part of bun (set aside). Shred 1 cup of Mozzarella. Add 2 tbsp of Parmesan cheese and mix the two cheeses together. Pile the cheese mixture on the two bottom buns (set aside). Slice up 3 large mushrooms and half an onion. Place in tinfoil and then add 1 tbsp of butter. Wrap and leave folded edge facing upwards. Place the burgers on the BBQ on low heat. Then place the onion and mushroom in wrapped tinfoil on the BBQ beside the burgers. While the burgers and mushrooms are cooking measure a half a cup of tomato sauce (or diced tomatoes) and add 1 tsp of basil and a pinch of oregano and blend together(set aside). Open a can of sliced black olives and take out about 10 slices. When the burgers are almost done, put all the buns on the top back rack of the BBQ, close the lid and heat for a few minutes. The buns are done when the butter and mozzarella are melted. Remove everything from the BBQ. Put approximately 2 tbsp of tomato mixture on top of the bottom cheese buns. Then put a few black olives on top. Add on the burger and then the mushroom and onions on top. Put the buttered garlic bun on and serve.
