This has been a family favorite for many years and for all occasions. I can't recall how many times I've given out this recipe.


1 lb lean ground beef
1 lb lean ground pork
3/4 cup bread crumbs
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup vinegar
3/4 cup water
1 tbsp dry mustard
2 tbsp soy sauce


In a bowl, mix beef and pork together by hand. Add bread crumbs, garlic powder, salt and eggs and mix well by hand. Roll into small meatballs and place in a large roast pan (not overlapping). In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, vinegar, water, dry mustard and soy sauce well then pour over meatballs. Bake uncovered at 325 degrees for about 40 minutes. Carefully shake roast pan side to side often. Serve with rice (and vegetables and/or salad). Best when reheated the next day. Leftovers, if any, can be frozen in portions in plastic containers.
