Is there any more Canadian than Maple and Bacon. Well this yummy decadent donut has both sweet scented Maple syrup and Crisp Bacon on top and insided the donut!
|1/4 cup||packed brown sugar|
|3 tbsp||pure maple syrup|
|1/2 tsp||each vanilla and maple extract|
|1/2 tsp||baking soda|
|1||lg. egg, beaten|
|1/3 cup||sour cream|
|1 tbsp||rendered bacon fat|
|6||slices,slices, Thick Cut Maple Leaf Bacon, diced|
|1||Recipe of Glaze, recipe below|
|1 1/2 cup||icing sugar|
|1 tsp||rendered bacon fat|
|5 tbsp||milk or more if you want it thinner|
|1 tsp||each of Vanilla and Maple extract or 1 tbsp pure maple syrup|
Filling & Topping:
Crisp bacon in a small skillet on high. Reserve the bacon fat as it begins to render into a small container. Turn the heat to med. and turn the bacon over to render and crisp all over. Break into pieces.
Donuts: Mix the wet ingredients together in a large bowl. Add the dry ingredients and stir with a spatula only until blended.
Distribute batter into a sprayed/greased 6 donut pan. Press bacon pieces into the batter and cover with extra batter. (Save some bacon for the top of the donut )
Bake in a preheated 375F oven for 10-12 min. Place a baking sheet under donut pan for support.
Cool for 5 min. Gently loosen sides with a toothpick/skewer to remove. Cool completely.
Whisk ingredients together. Sieve to remove any lumps. Dip donuts into glaze and place onto a rack to drip. Sprinkle with remaining bacon bits for decoration
