12 Strips Schneiders® Country Maple Bacon, divided
6 Golden Delicious apples, washed
2 tbsp (30 mL) Granulated sugar
.25 tsp (1 mL) Nutmeg
1 tsp (5 mL) Chili flakes
1 cup (250 mL) Rolled oats
.25 cup (60 mL) Light brown sugar
.25 cup (60 mL) All-purpose flour
2 tbsp (30 mL) Cold butter, diced
Maple syrup

PREHEAT oven to 375°F (190°C).

ARRANGE bacon on a baking tray and bake for 12-15 minutes or until crispy. Remove from oven and drain on paper towel. Chop 6 strips into small pieces and leave the other 6 whole.

REMOVE core from apples and place into a shallow baking pan.

COMBINE chopped bacon, granulated sugar, nutmeg, chili flakes, rolled oats, brown sugar, flour and butter in a small bowl. Work butter into dry ingredients, using your fingertips, until pea size crumbs form.

STUFF apples generously with crumb mixture. Drizzle with maple syrup.

BAKE in preheated oven for 35 to 45 minutes until apples are soft. Serve warm with whole bacon slices to garnish.

Serve as an appetizer or side dish.
