Sweet sticky maple syrup simmered with smokey bacon and onions add a crispy hot topping for fresh figs. Any easy Spring Appy ready in minutes!
|3||slices, diced smoked Bacon|
|1||small onion diced|
|1 tbsp||fresh rosemary (1 tsp dried)|
|2 tbsp||pure maple syrup, med. grade|
|6||fresh figs, black or green, quartered|
Fry the onions, bacon and rosemary together in a preheated skillet on high. As the bacon renders the fat, drain it. Reduce the heat if it is cooking to fast and allow it to brown, stirring. When all the fat has rendered and you have just a small amount in the pan, degraze with the maple syrup. Cook stirring for another 1-2 min until the mixture is sticky and glistening.
Quarter the figs lengthwise, but do not cut through. Open the figs like a flower and add a dollop of the mixture in the center of each fig.
