A Strata is a layered casserole. This flavorful Ham Strata is the perfect brunch dish. It is a fulfilling meal all on its own. Prepare the night before your busy day. One hour before brunch, place in the oven to bake. A fresh green Spring salad would round out this meal perfectly.


1 tsp soft butter
6 slices Dempster's Whole Grains Multigrains Bread
1.5 cup Maple Leaf® Deli Ham diced
1 tbsp green onion-chopped
5 grape tomatoes-chopped
.5 cup red pepper- chopped
.25 cup onion- minced
1 tbsp fresh parsley-chopped
1 pinch salt
1 pinch pepper
.3 cup Provolone cheese-grated
.3 cup Parmesan cheese-grated
.5 cup aged Cheddar cheese-grated
6 eggs
.75 cup whole milk
.5 cup cream
1 pinch Cayenne pepper
1 pinch nutmeg
1 pinch salt
1 pinch pepper
2 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp butter-melted


Butter a 2 Litre or 2 Quart oven proof casserole dish with the 1 tsp soft butter. Slice crusts off bread, do not use for this recipe, but keep to make bread crumbs or croutons perhaps. Using your hands break a part the crust less bread slices and make them into approx 1/4 inch pieces. set aside. In a small bowl add all cheese, mix to combine, set aside. In a medium bowl add eggs, milk, cream, cayenne pepper, nutmeg, salt, pepper and mustard, whisk until combined, set aside. In a medium bowl add ham, green onions, tomatoes, red pepper, onion, parsley, salt and pepper, mix until combined, set aside. In the casserole dish, sprinkle 1/4 of the cheese mix, on top of that, 1/3 bread pieces, than press down gently. Add 1/2 ham mix, 1/4 of the cheese mix, 1/3 of bread pieces, the rest of the ham mix, 1/4 of cheese mix, last of the bread pieces and last of the cheese. Pour the egg mix over the entire strata casserole making sure everything is moist and coated. Pour melted butter all over the top. Cover with plastic wrap and place in fridge over night. When you are ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Take plastic wrap off dish. Bake for approx 45 minutes. The Ham Strata should be golden in colour, set in the middle, and your kitchen will smell magnificent! Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!
