This hearty hot dog is a full meal packed with creamy potato salad and caramelized onions! It’s a full picnic between a bun!
|1 Pkg||Maple Leaf® Canadian CraftTM Montreal Style Smoked Meat Wieners|
|5||sesame seed hot dog buns|
|1 cup||(250 mL) prepared potato salad|
|2||medium onions, sliced|
|2 tbsp||(30 mL) olive oil|
|2 tbsp||(30 mL) butter|
Heat oil and butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.
Cook onions stirring frequently for 8 to 10 minutes or until onions are softened and are a golden to deep brown color.
Season with salt and pepper.
Remove from heat and keep warm.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
Place hot dogs into water and reduce heat to a simmer.
Cook hot dogs 4 to 5 minutes or until an internal temperature of 165 degrees is reached.
Assemble hot dogs by dividing potato salad between hot dog buns.
Place hot dogs on top, followed by onions. Top with mustard.
Alternatively BBQ hot dogs and buns!
