|1 Pkg||Maple Leaf Prime® chicken Legs|
|2 cups||(480 ml) water|
|1/2 cup||(120 ml) soy sauce|
|1/4 cup||(60 ml) apple juice|
|1 1/2 tbsp||(21 ml) mirin|
|3/4 cup||(180 ml) sugar|
|1/2||small onion, sliced|
|1/4||small carrot, sliced|
|3||cloves garlic, smashed|
|2||scallions, cleaned, trimmed|
Combine marinade ingredients on a stove. Simmer on low heat for 10 minutes, and then pass through a sieve. Chill marinade until cool.
Set aside ½ cup of the marinade. Add chicken legs to the rest of the marinade. Marinade a minimum of 2 hours, ideally overnight.
Remove the chicken legs from marinade and discard the marinade. Grill over medium heat, basting regularly with the reserved marinade, until the chicken legs reach an internal temperature of 165F.
Rest for 5 minutes, then serve.
Can be marinated for multiple days.
