I love eating French Toast, and a slice of ham and a side salad makes it a wonderful brunch to serve over the holidays.
2 | slices of Maple Leaf Country Kitchen Smoked ham |
4 | thick slices of whole grain bread |
3 | large eggs |
3/4 cup | milk |
2 cup | salad mixture of lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber |
2 tbsp | mayonnaise in a squeezable bottle |
5 tbsp | butter |
1 | pinch of freshly ground nutmeg |
Make French toast by beating eggs with milk and a pinch of nutmeg. Heat a frying pan with 1 tbsp. of butter. Dip a slice of bread into the egg mixture ensuring both sides are coated. Place in hot frying pan and cook for about 2 minutes until browned. Add another tablespoon of butter around the edges of the frying pan. Flip them over and cook for another minute and a half until browned. Repeat for the rest of bread. Set aside in a warming oven.
Using the same pan, place a tbsp. of butter and heat until hot. Add the two slices of ham and cook for about a minute until slightly browned. Turn over and cook the other side for about a minute until browned. Place on plates along with two slices of French toast. Place about a cup of the salad mixture on each plate, and squeeze about a tbsp. of mayonnaise on top. Serve with maple syrup.
