|12||Asparagus stems, lightly blanched|
|1||(175 g) Package Maple Leaf® Natural Selections® Uncured Baked Ham|
|3 tbsp||(45 mL) Butter|
|4-5 tbsp||(60-75 mL) Flour|
|1/4 tsp||(1 mL) Salt|
|Dash of pepper|
|1 cup||(250 mL) Milk|
|1 cup||(250 mL) Grated Cheddar cheese (mild)|
|1/2 cup||(125 mL) Buttered bread crumbs|
PREHEAT oven to 350°F (180°C).
WRAP each slice of ham around two asparagus tips. Place in a shallow baking dish seam side down.
MELT butter in a heavy saucepan or double boiler over medium heat. Whisk in flour, salt and pepper, gradually add milk stirring constantly until thickened.
POUR the hot mixture over the ham and asparagus rolls. Sprinkle with grated cheese and buttered breadcrumbs.
Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
