This is a great weekend winter warmer with crusty baguette and a robust glass of red wine.


1/3 cup Canola Oil
2 Lg Onions
5 Cloves Garlic
2 lbs Ground Turkey
2 Hot and Spicy Smoked Sausages
2 Red Bell Peppers, Finally Chopped
2 cups Water
1 tbsp Chili Powder
2 tsp Ground Cumin
2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Cayenne
1/4 tsp Dried Basil
2 Chipotle Peppers in Adobo, Finally Chopped
1 Small Bay Leaf
1 28oz can kidney beans
1 28oz can diced tomatoes


Chop onions and mince garlic
Chop up sausages; cut lengthwise in quarters then chop
Heat Oil and add sausage, onion and garlic
Saute until onions and garlic are golden brown
Add ground Turkey and brown
Add remaining ingredients except kidney beans, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered until sauce is as thick as desired, or about 3 hours
Add Kidney beans and simmer a further 10 minutes
