Bacon, sweet caramelized onion on a turkey burger with rich Gruyere cheese and tangy mustard.
|2||Onion, thinly sliced|
|2 tbsp||Olive oil|
|1 tbsp||Worchestershire sauce|
|1 lb||Maple Leaf Prime Naturally® Extra Lean Minced Turkey|
|2||Cloves garlic, minced|
|3 tbsp||Grainy mustard, divided|
|1 tsp||Chopped fresh thyme|
|Salt & pepper|
|3 tbsp||Bread crumbs|
|4||Slices Gruyere cheese|
|8||Slices Maple Leaf® Bacon, cooked crisp|
HEAT oil in a large skillet over medium. Add onions and Worcestershire, cook, stirring occasionally for about 15 minutes or until golden brown and caramelized. Set aside.
PREHEAT BBQ to medium-high. Lightly coat the grill with non-stick cooking spray.
COMBINE turkey, garlic, mustard, thyme, egg yolk, salt, pepper and breadcrumbs in a large bowl. Mix gently with your hands and form into four equal patties.
GRILL patties for 6-8 minutes per side or until evenly char-grilled and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Top each with equal amounts of the caramelized onion and a slice of Gruyere cheese. Once the cheese has melted, place two strips of cooked bacon on the bottom of each bun followed by a burger smothered in onion and melted cheese. Spread the top half of the bun with mustard and place on top of the burgers.
