A perfect dip to watch a game, or sit back on the dock. Try this french onion dip for a dip everyone will enjoy.
|3||strips Maple Leaf Bacon|
|1 1/2||Small Onions|
|4||sprigs Fresh Thyme|
|1||Condensed Beef Stock packet|
|1/4 cup||White wine|
|1/4 cup||Softened Cream Cheese|
|1 cup||Sour Cream|
|Chips (or veggies) for dipping|
|Salt and Pepper|
|Optional: chives for topping|
Let’s cut up that lovely bacon into nice ½” strips. Give those a good frying and set them aside on some paper towel. We’ll get back to these in a couple of minutes.
Grab your onions, give them a fine dice, and toss them into the beautiful remaining bacon fat. Fry these onions nice and slow with your bay leaf and and thyme sprigs for about 15-20 minutes until they are nice and brown. Season with black pepper and a touch of salt.
Drop in your condensed beef stock and white wine and let this simmer and reduce until its nice and thick.
Once it has reduced nicely, place it in a bowl to let it cool to room temperature.
Stir in your softened cream cheese to the room temperature onions.
Then dump in your sour cream and give it a good mix
Don’t forget the bacon! Never forget the bacon!!!
Top with a few diced chives and serve with your favourite chips. Keep ‘em coming!
