Creamy feta cheese is a surprising filling inside these juicy burgers! Serve in a Dempster's® Pita Pocket and smother in tzatziki sauce, crisp cucumbers and fresh tomatoes.
|454 g||Maple Leaf Prime® Extra Lean Ground Turkey|
|50 ml||Bread crumbs|
|5 ml||Dried oregano|
|125 ml||Kalamata olives, pitted & chopped|
|5 ml||Lemon zest|
|15 ml||Lemon juice|
|Salt & pepper to taste|
|125 g||Feta cheese|
|4||Dempster’s® Pita Pockets|
|Tzatziki sauce, as desired|
|60 ml||Diced cucumbers|
|125 ml||Cherry tomatoes, halved|
PREHEAT barbeque grill to medium.
COMBINE turkey, bread crumbs, oregano, olives, lemon zest, lemon juice, egg, salt and pepper in a large bowl.
DIVIDE the turkey mixture into four equal portions and shape into large meatballs. Insert thumb into centre of each meatball to create a pocket.
PLACE 1 oz (30 g) of Feta in the centre of each meatball and close meat around cheese. Gently form meatballs into burger shape.
GRILL for 5-7 minutes each side or until the internal temperature of the meat reaches 170°F (77°C).
CUT each burger and pita pocket in half crosswise. Open pita pocket and fill with half burger, tzatziki sauce, cucumbers and tomatoes.
