|2 can||19oz chickpeas|
|1/2||bulb garlic, peeled and smashed|
|3/4 cup||good olive oil (reserve a drizzle for garnish)|
|1/4 cup||cold water|
|3||dashes of hot sauce (or more)|
|3 tbsp||lemon juice (or 1 full fresh lemon squeezed)|
|pinch of salt to taste|
Mix all the listed ingredients in a food processor and puree hummus to desired consistency.
Add a handful of chickpeas to the finished hummus and a drizzle of olive oil for garnish.
Adjust the level of garlic, lemon juice and spice to find the right balance for your hummus.
For fans of spice, try using a variety of ingredients such as different brands of hot sauce, Sriracha hot sauce, cayenne pepper, chili flakes, chili powder, or various hot peppers (jalapenos, bonnet peppers, chili peppers, etc.) in your hummus.
For a smoother consistency, mix the ingredients in a blender. Note that your blender might not be strong enough to blend all the ingredients at once. If this is the case, use a food processor first before transferring the hummus to the blender.
