A soft sesame bun envelopes a ¼ pound of juicy beef burger heaped with mouthwatering sautéed mushrooms.


1 lb (450 g) Ground beef
1 tbsp (15 mL) Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp (10 mL) Dijon mustard
2 Cloves garlic minced, divided
1 tbsp (15 mL)
Salt and pepper
1 tbsp (15 mL) Butter
1 Small onion, chopped
1 (8 oz/227 g) Package mushrooms, chopped
4 Dempster’s® Deluxe Ham Buns
Iceberg lettuce, shredded
½ Red onion, thinly sliced
1 Tomato, sliced


PREHEAT BBQ to medium-high and lightly coat the grill with non-stick cooking spray.

USING your hands gently combine ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon, 1 Clove garlic, paprika, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Divide mixture into 4 equal portions and form into burger patties.

HEAT butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions, remaining garlic and mushrooms. Cook until tender, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

PLACE burgers on preheated grill and cook for 5-6 minutes per side or until nicely char grilled and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

ASSEMBLE burgers by topping the bottom half of each bun with shredded lettuce, red onion, tomato, a patty and a generous spoonful of the sautéed mushroom mixture and remaining buns.
