Deluxe Chile Dog

I highly recommend you make yourself and your brood homemade chile dogs for supper tonight. Talk about a fast classic comfort food. Here are 5 tips to making them deluxe.

1.Grill the hot dogs, you might as well
2. Buy Chile from a can, you would never otherwise it's fun to try some different kinds
3. Saute your onions in a little butter
4. Lightly butter and grill your bun too
5. Melt the cheese topping under a broiler for 2 minutes


1 Pkg Maple Leaf Hot Dogs
1 Pkg Hot Dog Buns
2 can Chile
2 Garlic cloves cut in 1/2
2 cups Favorite grated cheese
1 Small thinly sliced onion
6 tsp Butter
1 Mustard and Ketchup


-Preheat your oven to low broil
- In a small pan over medium heat saute onion until caramelized in 2 tsp butter, season with salt and pepper and set aside
- Preheat a grill pan to medium/hot
-In a saucepan heat up canned chili to boiling and simmer for 6-7 minutes
-Cook up your hot dogs any way you like, grill them, boil them roast over a campfire even, it's up to you
-Butter the hot dog buns and grill them in the pan until golden, remove from the pan and rub the cut side of your garlic cloves on the buttery toasted buns
-Assemble the Chile Dogs first with a squirt of ketchup and mustard, and then the hot dog, top it off with the caramelized onions and a good amount of grated cheese, place back onto a baking sheet or frying pan
-Broil then for 5 minutes until the cheese is gooey
