This classic French sandwich makes a wonderful Sunday brunch. Melted Gruyere cheese, Dijon mustard and thinly shaved ham sandwiched between two thick cut pieces of Focaccia bread then dipped in egg and pan fried.
|8||Thick slices focaccia bread|
|4 tbsp||(60 mL) Dijon mustard|
|2 cups||(500 mL) Grated Gruyere cheese|
|1||(175 g) Package Natural Selections® Italian Style Shaved Ham|
|2 tbsp||(30 mL) Milk|
|Salt and pepper|
|4 tbsp||(60 mL) Butter, divided|
SPREAD 1 tbsp (15 mL) of Dijon mustard on each of four slices focaccia. Divide half the cheese evenly over the Dijon coated bread. Divide ham between each sandwich and top with remaining cheese and remaining bread.
BEAT eggs and milk together in a shallow pan. Season with salt and pepper.
HEAT 2 tbsp (30 mL) butter in a large non-stick frying pan over medium. Dip 2 sandwiches in egg mixture on both sides and place in pan. Cook 2-3 minutes per side or until golden. Repeat with the remaining 2 sandwiches. Serve warm.
