Simple, fun, filling - this is a classic Canadiana meal in a popper bowl that can be eaten while you sit on the sofa and watch your movie.
|28 oz||Baked beans in tomato sauce (1 can)|
|10||corn poppers (1 pkg.)|
|20||slices, Maple Leaf® Natural Selections® Bacon|
Fry all the slices of bacon in a large pan and remove each as it's cooked. Reserve the bacon fat.
Warm the beans in a pot until simmering.
Brush the entire inside of each corn popper with a little cooked bacon fat, using a pastry brush.
Immediately before serving, place about a third of a cup of beans into each corn popper.
Place two slices of cooked bacon over top of the beans.
Serve on plates and eat immediately.
If you wait too long to eat the poppers, they will begin to melt and will not retain their bowl shape.
Make just enough for one serving per person. When ready for a second serving, fill another set of popper bowls.
