|1 tbsp||(15 mL) Granulated sugar (for dusting)|
|1 tbsp||(15 mL) Icing sugar (for dusting)|
PREHEAT oven to 350°F (180°C).
REMOVE the pie shells from the foil trays using a paring knife to loosen the edges. Turn onto a lightly floured work surface. Cut each pastry in 3” (8 cm) circles using a round cookie cutter. Place an unwrapped chocolate in the centre of each circle. Fold the dough in half around the candy and pinch closed at the tip. Push up the open sides to the center and pinch all of the seams creating a four-sided star. Repeat with the remaining pastry and chocolates.
ARRANGE the pastries on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Brush each with egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for 5-10 minutes and dust with icing sugar before serving.
Use coloured sugar for a festive look.
