Salty bacon collides with sweet chocolate in this dessert that will demand seconds!
|1 Pkg||Tenderflake® Tart Shells|
|1 oz||(28g) Unsweetened chocolate, finely chopped|
|1/3 cup||(90 mL) Sugar|
|1/3 cup||(90 mL) Corn syrup|
|1/2 tsp||(2 mL) Vanilla|
|1/2 tsp||(2 mL) Salt|
|1/4 cup||(60 mL) Chopped cooked crisp bacon|
|1/4 cup||(60 mL) Chopped toasted pistachios|
BAKE tart shells according to package directions.
REDUCE oven temperature to 350°F (180°C). Position the rack in the center of the oven.
MELT chocolate in the top of a double boiler over barely simmering water. Stir constantly until melted.
WHISK together sugar, corn syrup, egg, melted chocolate, vanilla and salt. Divide bacon bits between the tart shells, about 1 tsp (5 mL) per tart. Pour the chocolate mixture over the bacon bits, dividing equally between the tarts. Sprinkle the top with chopped pistachios. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until set.
Substitute toasted peanuts for pistachios.
