Your neighbours will wonder what’s cooking when they smell the aroma of this authentic Chinese stir-fry. Spicy and earthy flavours mingle and meld in your mouth.
|1||Clove garlic, minced|
|1 tsp||(5 mL) Chinese 5 spice powder|
|1 tsp||(5 mL) Chili garlic sauce|
|2 tbsp||(30 mL) Soya sauce|
|1 tbsp||(15 mL) Hoisin sauce|
|2 tbsp||(30 mL) Vegetable oil|
|3||Chili peppers, dried|
|2 tbsp||(30 mL) Rice vinegar|
|1 tsp||(5 mL) sugar|
|3||Maple Leaf Prime Naturally® Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts, cut into bite-size pieces|
|2 tbsp||(30 mL) Vegetable oil, divided|
|3 cups||(750 mL) Broccoli Florets|
|2||Cloves garlic, thinly sliced|
|2 cups||(500 mL) Sliced shitake mushrooms|
|.5 cup||(125 mL) Ready prepared peanut sauce|
|.5r cup||(125 mL) Peanuts, coarsely chopped|
COMBINE all marinade ingredients and pour into a large re-sealable plastic bag. Add chicken and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
HEAT 1 tbsp (15 mL) oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned, about 10 minutes. Remove it and set aside.
ADD remaining oil to the skillet and stir-fry onion, broccoli, garlic, star anise and mushrooms until broccoli is fork tender. Return chicken to pan. Add peanut sauce and peanuts. Serve immediately.
Serve over Chinese noodles or rice.
