About this Recipe

Delicious Greek marinated chicken, fresh vegetables and creamy tzatziki wrapped in a warm pita.


2 Cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp (15 mL) Lemon juice
2 tsp (10 mL) Red wine vinegar
2 tbsp (30 mL) Olive oil
2 tbsp (30 mL) Plain yogurt
1 tsp (5 mL) Dried oregano
1 tsp (5 mL) Cumin
.5 tsp (2 mL) Turmeric
.5 tsp (2 mL) Allspice
1 Package Maple Leaf® Prime® Naturally Butterflied Chicken Breasts
4 Pitas
1 Tomato, diced
.25 English cucumber, chopped
.25 Red onion, thinly sliced
.25 cup (60 mL) Feta cheese, crumbled
.25 cup (60 mL) Hot banana peppers
.5 cup (125 mL) Ready prepared tzatziki


WHISK together the first nine ingredients; add to chicken in a large re-sealable plastic bag.
Marinade for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours.

PREHEAT BBQ to medium-high. Lightly coat grill with non-stick cooking spray. Remove chicken and grill for 4-5 minutes per side or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Remove from heat and set aside. Discard any leftover marinade in bag.

WRAP pitas in aluminum foil and place on grill for 5-6 minutes to warm.

SLICE chicken into ½” (1 cm) strips. Assemble gyros by dividing chicken between pitas and topping with tomato, cucumber, red onion, cheese, hot peppers and tzatziki.
