About this Recipe

This recipe was the result of a pleasant, but unexpected, visit from father-in-law. He loves homemade dessert and this was ready in a jiffy

.5 Pkg Tenderflake Pie Crust or Puff Pastry
2 cups cooking apples, peeled, cored, and evenly sliced
1 tsp ground cinnamon
.5 cup brown sugar
.25 tsp salt
2 tbsp Chai coffee syrup
3 tbsp butter
2 tbsp corn starch
5 tbsp Egg wash
2 tbsp coarse sugar, for sprinkling

Combine apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, salt, coffee syrup, butter, and cornstarch in a medium sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium heat. It may be necessary to add a bit of water to begin the apples cookies.
When the mixture thickens, remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature
Roll pie crust or puff pastry to a 12" circle. Place on parchment or non-stick baking mat.
Carefully pile apples in the middle and bring the edges up around the filling.
Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sugar
For Puff Pastry - bake in a 400 F oven approximately 25 minutes or until golden brown
For pie pastry, bake in a 350 F oven approximately 25-30 minutes.
