Light, salty, spicy and delicious-- the perfect appetizer that appeals to everyone at the party, young or old!
|1 cup||(250 mL) Water|
|1/2 cup||(125 mL) Butter or margarine|
|1/4 tsp||(1 mL) Salt|
|1 cup||(250 mL) All-purpose flour|
|2 cups||(500 mL) Grated Cheddar cheese|
|1 cup||(250 mL) Maple Leaf® Bacon, cooked and diced|
|1/4 cup||(60 mL) Pickled jalapeno pepper, chopped|
PREHEAT oven to 425°F (220°C).
BOIL water, butter and salt in a large saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in flour. Continue to stir until all the flour has been incorporated and the mixture comes away from the sides of the pan. Add one egg at a time, mixing until each egg is completely mixed in.
FOLD the remaining ingredients into the flour and egg mixture.
LINE a baking sheet with parchment paper. Mixture can be either piped or spooned in 2-inch (5 cm) rounds, leaving 1 inch (2.5 cm) between each one.
BAKE in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, reduce heat to 350°F (180°C) and continue to bake for 20-30 minutes or until crisp, puffed and golden.
