About this Recipe

5 strips Maple Leaf Bacon
2 Sausages
1 Small Onion
6 Apples (Royal Gala, Golden Delicious or Courtland)
1 tsp Nutmeg
1/4 cup Breadcrumbs
1 tbsp Grainy Mustard
1/2 cup Apple Cider

Preheat your oven to 350°F

Grab your bacon, and cut it up into half inch pieces. Fry this in a large pan until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan, leaving the rendered, delicious fat.

While your bacon is doing its thing, we have to do peel and chop ONE of our apples and get a rough chop going on your onion. At this point you can also cut your sausages into about ½” disks.

Once your bacon is cooked and removed from the pan, add in all of your sausages. You’ll want to brown these on both sides.

Once almost fully browned, add your onions and continue to fry until translucent.

Once translucent, add your apples, nutmeg and half cup of apple cider. Season here with salt and pepper at your own will. You can also add your grainy mustard into the mix.

Let everything cook down until the apples have gone soft and most of the cider has reduced. Once the apples are soft, turn off the heat, and stir in your bread crumbs and crispy bacon and set everything aside. The bread crumbs will act as a binding agent to keep our stuffing together.

Grab the remainder of your apples, and cut off the tops.

Using a spoon, scoop out the middle, making sure you’ve gotten all of the core. Leave a thin layer of apple all the way around so that the apple is still fairly sturdy.

Bake these for about 15-20 minutes in the oven until the outer apple has gone soft.
