Bacon and Chestnut Brussel Sprouts

Fresh brussel sprouts tossed with crispy bacon, roasted chestnuts and ground nutmeg.

Ingredients

1 lb (454 g) Brussels sprouts
6 Slices Maple Leaf® Bacon, chopped
1 cup (250 mL) Roasted, peeled chestnuts, chopped
Salt and pepper
Freshly ground nutmeg

Directions

BRING a large pot of salted water to a boil.

CLEAN Brussels sprouts by trimming the bottom and scoring each bottom with an X, using a paring knife. Remove any damaged outer leaves. Place in boiling water and cook 3-5 minutes or until fork tender and bright green. Drain and plunge into ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain and set aside.

HEAT a skillet over medium-high heat. Add bacon and cook 5-6 minutes or until crisp. Add Brussels sprouts and chestnuts to the pan. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Toss to coat. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and cook until heated through and tender.

Notes

Serve as a side to Prime® Roast Turkey.
