About this Recipe

Cold mornings will perk up with these warm cheesy bacon biscuits.

8 slices Schneiders® Bacon, diced
3 cups flour
1 tbsp sugar
4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup cold butter cut into small pieces
1 cup sharp cheddar, grated
1/2 cup gruyere, grated
1/3 cup chives, chopped
1 cup milk

Preheat oven to 425 degrees
Heat a skillet of medium high heat. Cook bacon until just crisp. Transfer to a paper towel lined plate. Chop and set aside. Whisk flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and baking soda in a large bowl. Cut the cold butter into flour mixture using a pastry cutter. Combine until mixture resembles a coarse meal. Add cheeses, bacon, and chives. Add the milk and stir until just moistened. Use a half cup to divide dough into 18 equal biscuits. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until a tooth pick comes out clean and biscuits are brown and golden. Serve immediately with butter.

These make excellent hostess gifts for the holidays. Wrap in a cookie tin along with herb butter.
