This recipe is always a crowd pleaser for a special occassion, especially if you frost it all in white icing so people are surprised when they cut into it.
|2.5 cups||all-purpose flour|
|.75 cup||vegtable oil|
|2.25 tsp||baking powder|
|3||Colours of food colouring (red, yellow, blue)|
|1||container white icing|
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease baking pan(s) (ideally 2 9-inch round cake pans).
In a mixing bowl (with an electric mixer if you have one) beat sugar and eggs together until kind of thickened (approx. 1 minute).
Add flour, milk, oil, baking powder, and vanilla and beat for one more minute.
Separate batter into 3 different bowls and cups (any container will do) and use food colouring to dye the batter (you might need alot).
Once you have prepared your various colours of cake batter take turns spooning different batter colours into the baking pan(s). Do not stir because you want the colours to look layered when it bakes.
Bake in oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until top looks golden and a toothpick poked into the center of the layer comes out clean.
Remove from oven. Cool. Ice delightfully.
Great for Birthdays!
